Troia peninsula, Setúbal
Instead of heading to the crowded beaches of Cascais and Estoril in Lisbon, you can go to the stunning peninsula of Troia. With 18km of sandy beaches you can easily spend a relaxing day with a picnic without the hordes of people, or even attempt to see some dolphins from one of its boat trips.

Praia da Mata and Praia da Morena
Located just across the river Tejo. There is a gigantic strip of sand of 15km. But the further south you head, the more likely you are to find less crowded beaches and better beach bars.

Meco, Costa da Caparica
A 15km strip of sandy beach with a trendy bar scene and huge cliffs surrounding the beaches that even have waterfalls. Reachable by public transport.

Portinho da Arrábida, Praia de Galapinhos and Praia dos Coelhos
This bay entails several beaches with the Arrábida Natural Park as the backdrop and the crystal-clear waters.

Serra de Sintra
Unspoilt, rugged surfing beaches on the South side of the Setubal Peninsular. Stunning, untouched beaches that are regarded as some of the most beautiful in Portugal.

Praia da Adraga, Praia de Ursa (located near Sintra)
Crystal-clear waters, natural beauty, imposing cliffs. The most beautiful beaches in the world. Cradled between cliffs with soft sand and a small waterfall, it is a showcase for nature’s artworks. Access is extremely difficult and getting there is only by boat. Because of its relative isolation, Praia da Ursa has retained its natural beauty, unlike many other beaches.
